Bridgwater Town Reserves fall short losing 2-1

Uhlsport Somerset County League Division One

Saturday 26th October 2019

Uphill Castle 2

Bridgwater Town Reserves 1

In very poor conditions, the Reserves made the short trip to Berrow on Saturday to face a strong Uphill side.

Despite the challenges of the heavy pitch both sides kept it tight in the first 45 minutes with the interval reached with little goalmouth activity.

The second half was a little more open, with Uphill taking the lead through a very unlucky Ryan Weston OG 1-0.

Undaunted, ‘The Robins’ stuck to their task and were unlucky to have Brad Walford’s effort ruled out for offside on 65 minutes. Within five minutes the home side extended their lead only for a Lewis Hembery trademark strike from 35 yards to halve their advantage.

Despite continuing to compete well in all areas of the pitch, Hembery’s effort was the only reward as Uphill secured the points to move closer the early season league leaders, Timsbury Athletic.

Man of the match went to George Turner who was solid for 90 minutes on his return to the club.

Next up is a trip to eighth placed Saltford. KO is at 2:30pm.
