Bridgwater Town Reserves back to winning ways

Uhlsport Somerset County League Division One

Saturday 19th October 2019

Staplegrove 0

Bridgwater Town Reserves 5

On Saturday the Reserves looked to right the wrongs of the previous weeks encounter between these two sides, travelling back to Staplegrove, this time in the league.

The game started very well for the young Robins, who dominated early on. On the 15 minutes striker Chris Taylor tucked the ball calmly into the far right corner only to be flagged offside.

The visitors did not have long to wait for their first goal as a well switched ball from Harry Hamblin was brought under control by captain Lewis Hembery who fired the ball into the inside netting of the Staplegrove keepers’ left hand post. 0-1.

30 minutes in Hembery grabbed his second of the afternoon with a very cheeky free kick from 25 yards, going under the wall into the same corner as his first to double the lead.

On the stroke of half time the Robins made it 0-3 through our midfield maestro Mario Franco with the most delicate of chips over the oncoming keeper. HT 0-3.

It was much of the same in the second half with dominance coming from the visiting side. On the hour mark Josh Champion was brought down in the box, penalty to provide the opportunity For Hembery to complete his hat-trick. He made no mistake. 0-4.

Within five minutes Franco slips the ball into Champion, who cut back inside and smashed it home to make it 0-5 to seal a fine win for his side.

A very professional performance from the lads which sets us up well for our next fixture, which is another tough one, away to Uphill Castle on Saturday 26th October.

Man of the Match

Lewis Hembery
